Once a year a voluntary group in our local village called ‘Orsett in Bloom’ hosts a garden open day and competition for best floral displays.
Their goal is to raise money to maintain the village and keep in looking beautiful.
As it was such a nice day this year we popped over to the village to explore.
It was only £4.50 per adult. This provided access to the private gardens, free parking and free minibus service to the furthest parts of the village.
As well as the gardens we managed to squeeze in a visit to the local church. We paid 50p to climb the bell tower where we enjoyed a demonstration and talk on bell ringing.
We also had a quick peek in the Masonic hall which had an exhibition on local history.
As we were enjoying ourselves so much we ran out of time, but we only missed 3 of the 16 locations.
I will leave you with a photo tour of our day. All 73 (!) photos were taken with my iPhone as unfortunately I didn’t take my DSLR.
