Me and hubby spent 3 nights in Venice this September for his birthday treat. Although its an expensive place to visit for a weekend trip you should go just once to experience it.
I’ve just got round to totting up our 3 day Venice trip cost and I won’t lie I was pretty gobsmacked. Keep reading so you can adequately plan for your own trip, with no nasty surprises.
Sooo me & hubby got back from Venice a couple of weeks ago. The weather wasn’t great but its such a fairytale place its hard not to love. The canals, the bridges & the gondolas, its all pretty dreamy!
I’ve made a quick photo diary for you using our GoPro footage. We don’t actually bother taking photos with the GoPro anymore because its so easy to save stills afterwards using the Quick app.
Welcome to part 2 of our epic 2 week Iceland road trip. If you missed part 1
Reykjavik to Vik check it out first.
So, you want to visit Rome? There is so much to see here you will need at least 4 days just to scratch the surface.
Italy’s beautiful capital is home to ancient ruins, artistic masterpieces and the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church.
Once a year a voluntary group in our local village called ‘Orsett in Bloom’ hosts a garden open day and competition for best floral displays.
Their goal is to raise money to maintain the village and keep in looking beautiful.
As it was such a nice day this year we popped over to the village to explore.
We decided to kick off our Iceland road trip with a 2-night stay in Reykjavik. There wasn’t a lot we wanted to see here, so decided one day of sightseeing would be enough.
We chose the Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina as our base as it was close to everything. From the photos it looked modern, clean and enticingly colourful.
When we visited Iceland, we were excited about experiencing a hot spring. After a lot of researching I decided the Blue Lagoon was out, it looked super busy and touristy (not to mention pricey!).
A firm favourite was the Secret Lagoon, or in Icelandic Gamla Laugin.
The Secret Lagoon is in Flúðir, close to the Golden Circle. It is the oldest swimming pool in Iceland, dating back to 1891.
Whilst we were in Edinburgh there was one thing on my ‘must do’ list. I wanted to hike to the top of Arthur’s Seat so we could enjoy the panoramic views over the city.
Arthur’s Seat sits just to the east of the city centre in Holyrood Park. It is the highest point at a height of 822 feet.
So you want to explore the Scottish Highlands but don’t know where to start? I’ve put together a 10 day Scotland road trip itinerary just for you! Starting and ending in Edinburgh you can easily catch a flight in if you are from overseas. This itinerary is fully tried and tested as we took this exact road trip last September. So without further ado lets get exploring.
I first came across Iceland after researching weekend city breaks. Reykjavik came onto my radar for the first time.
As I knew absolutely nothing about Reykjavik I started researching things to do. I soon came to realise however that there was so much more to Iceland than Reykjavik.
After finally convincing hubby and a lot of late night searching and pinning onto google maps, our 2 week road trip around Iceland was born.
Fast forward to April 2017 and the adventure finally begins!
