Visiting Scotlands Enchanted Forest – 50 Must See Photos

The Enchanted Forest is a spectacular award winning sound and light show not to be missed. The show is held yearly in Faskally Wood, Perthshire in October/November. Each year has a different theme, but each year no matter the theme the forest is lit up with a dazzling display of lighting effects.

I’d had my eye on this show for a while after just missing it by a week on our 2016 trip to Scotland. In 2017 a week long trip to a cottage near Oban coincided with the dates of the show, and so we made the five hour round trip to Pitlochry and back just for this event. Was it worth it? Yes indeed!

In 2017 the theme was Oir and Uisge – edge of the water. There were rainbows, waterfalls, water droplets, umbrellas, fountain shows and more. We went round a couple of times to really take it all in. On the way round was a stall selling marshmallows on sticks which you could toast on the fire, so much fun!

If you are going to attend the event (which you really should!) a coach picks you up in Pitlochry at the Fishers Hotel. It whisks you to the forest and will whisk you back afterwards. Make sure not to miss your time slot. We got to Pitlochry early to make sure we got parked, then had some dinner before our pick up slot.

Once you arrive at the forest you wander down to the entrance where they are selling merchandise. Might as well grab yourself some glow stick bracelets here, we got one of each colour (yes I was 28 really!). Then you can head off into the forest at your own pace and enjoy the show.
